The tub is 12"X18"X9" the cooler is 21"X12"X13"

Pappy any air-space or gap would have to be heated as well as the contents of the tub. The contained tub in the cooler is better than just being out in the open, but if you could fill the gap with something, the unit would not have to work so hard at keeping everything at set point. Kind of like a small home is cheaper to heat than a large home.

Alright I think that I'm done. The lid was covered with Reflectix, duct taped and trimmed. I'm ready for my next long cook!

Thanks guys! It works out pretty nifty as the lid insulation is the only insulation fixed/taped to the Cambro tub. The sides are cut so it's a snug fit without any tape needed, and the bottom just sits on a 1" foil-lined insulation board, so easy cleaning ability. Now next project......

Our 18 month old Maytag HE washer just crapped out for the second time! %#$&@!!!!!!

I still think it looks better without the cover. You could put some decorative rock, a light, and some really warm climate tropical fish :P
