New gas grill under $600 Weber or bust? Help!
« Reply #-1 on: June 30, 2016, 12:22:52 PM »
I'm looking to replace a Broil King Regal 490 Pro. I got a good 6 years out of it.  But when it started to show its age it went FAST!!  Gotta be at least 3 burners and a side burner.  Grates aren't as big of a concern as I will be using GrillGrates.  Weber spirit e-330 seems to be the leader so far. Thoughts? Advice?

I've owned a bunch of gassers over the years and all of them burned up relatively quickly, even some of the more expensive ones.  A Weber will usually last longer than most of the others and they keep on making parts for them if you need to replace something.

The Spirit line is the only Weber not manufactured in the U.S.

But it is still made with their quality standards.

Webers are great and you can't go wrong even with their Spirit line.

Any Weber is a good choice. And - if you really want a better one than you can swing new...Look on Craig List. You can often find a recent model - for a great deal less than it would cost new. They are simple, and durable. And- as Hub pointed out - parts are almost always available for Webers.

And...please post a New Member intro in that section- so we can welcome you right and proper! It will give you an idea of how friendly this place is :)

Had a large Grand Hall that was sold by Sams for one year at a discounted price with cast iron burners for 11 years and pass it on to a neighbor who's been using it for three more.

Our Weber Genesis E-330 is going on six years, lives here uncovered year round and only had to replace one knob.  Replaced the grills with 5 Grates which I trimmed to size years ago.   Burners have a ten year warranty.

I recommend the Weber even though they have gotten away from SS 304

If the budget is $600 or less...100% yes on Weber. If in your shoes, I'd try hard to save a few more pennies and go with the Weber Genesis. Best bang 4 buck IMO!! :)

My Weber Genesis is 20 years old. Burner replaced at 10 years. Flavorizors or whatever they are called every 3 years. Parts available everywhere. Paint and body like new. Quality costs bucks, and it pays you back much more more than you spent. My neighbor's Char-Broil's are on the curb every 3 to 4 years and he just goes and gets another one.

Are you sure you are not my neighbor?  I have had 4 grills, usually cheaper ones because I never had much $$ to spend.

One was a gift a few years ago - great grill and could get over 400 degrees in matter of minutes (my dad's version of the grill could never get over 350, no matter how long it was on!).  Unfortunately, my wife decided to use it.  She cranked it up on high, all 4 burners - put on pork chops and let it ride while she got sides going.  Came back down to it in flames - said it was 5 minutes (was more like 30 the way my daughters told the story).  When I took a look - the chops were charcoal and everything else inside was as well.  Replacement parts would have cost almost the same as another grill.

I now have a Smoke Hollow 3 in one.  Rusting like crazy even though I hit it with high temp paint.

Go with the Weber - I wish I had!  For me, the next one will either be the Genesis or maybe Memphis Advantage (I will need something that can straight up grill!)  I am holding out until I can get either my deck built though.

I picked up a Webber Genesis pre-2002 model on Craigslist for $75. Got grill grates($100), new burners($35) and new manifold($90). It is basically brand new. For well under the new price.

I rebuild old Weber gassers.
Unless the firebox cracks or the frame rusts they are 20 year cookers.
