Soup and sandwiches
« Reply #-1 on: January 22, 2014, 10:36:55 PM »
Seems like a good time for homemade comfort food:

Crock pot chicken - low and slow for 10 hours until the cartilages were as soft and gelatinous as the ligaments in pigs feet (absolutely delicious).  Discard the simmering veggies, then fresh rough chopped carrots, onions, and celery.  Seasoned with salt, pepper, thyme, and turmeric.  Chicken carcass completely fell apart - was able to "pull" the breast meat - no knife necessary

English muffins - toasted, topped with Swiss, then heaped with home smoked corned beef (flats, store-bought) sliced thin. 3 of the 4 were topped with hot sauerkraut - the 4th topped with a runny yolk egg.
