Glad to hear you are feeling better and getting back into the swing of things David, and sounds like you raised some good girls.

We are hopefully just a couple of days away from finishing having our deck resurfaced and sealed. It has been going on for a couple of weeks off and on with the rain we have had. I haven't been able to cook outside at all.

David, it's great to see you at the plate again and knocking them out of the park.

What a precious moment David, to be able to share a cook with your daughter!  They grow up so quickly, and as we age, each moment we are privileged to spend with our busy children are definitely moments to be treasured.

pz, you reminded  of a song that I heard 40 years ago... My best friend Squeek Sharkey's dad worked in a building with a radio station. He used to bring us LP singles. Back then the station played real vinyl not digital. This was one that I remember from all those years ago.

Not a great song, but now it brings tears to my eyes. If you have a daughter, you know what I mean.

I always wanted a daughter, but was blessed with two sons, which I have never regretted a single day in my life.  I'd not heard the song you posted, but this one is the complement when one has a son.

My most memorable moment was when I held my first son in my arms seconds after he was born and he opened his eyes... looking directly into mine, and held them there, with mine gazing tenderly back.  Nearly 30 years ago, my memory is as clear as if it happened only a moment ago.

pz, This has been my anthem with my dad... for too many years.

I see things from both sides now. I am sure you do too.

Now I see this as a son and a father. One of the best songs I have ever listened to. I am trying to be a better son as my dad faces his twilight time.

Another I think of -

Thank you for understanding.

D

Although each of us have diverse backgrounds and histories, every parent shares a common bond with what we are now emotionally experiencing with our children.  I've lost my parents, and my only sibling, but the memories of family I cherish are almost the mirror of what I experience with my sons - now from a father's eye.  I can almost feel being with you, David, as you enjoy the attentions of your daughter, as all of us with beloved children can as we head into our twilight years.

I have truly enjoyed this topic for many reasons
