Fried Green Beans
« Reply #-1 on: October 03, 2014, 06:37:46 PM »
Not sure if fried green beans are exactly HEALTHY per say, but these are low-carb version so we'll pretend they're legit.

Put a combo of bacon grease and coconut oil in a pan (about 1/4 deep) on medium heat till it was good and hot.

Dipped the green beans in beaten egg, then dredged in a mixture of coconut flour, black pepper, and Tony Chachere's seasoning.

Put them in the oil and cooked them for about 4-5 minutes-- basically till they were nicely browned, which left the beans with just a bit of crunch.

Pretty dang tasty, but a bit labor intensive-- they were disappearing faster than I could make them!

I like the sounds of that!!  The crunch part is always good around here.  I'm guessing that the green beans are fresh.  I'll have to give them a try.  Thanks for posting, Kat.

Nice Kat!!! One batch for me please!!! I used to do a simple ver. by just dusting fresh ones with a little flour and stir frying them in some oil. I used to do this often when the kids were young. Can't remember when I had them lately. I think I would like them with the nice breading you got on them! Don

Thanks gang!  Yeah, if you're not trying to cut carbs, just doing a regular flour/spice mixture to toss them in would be really tasty too!

Not sure what restaurant we saw them at originally, but it looked like a fun (and ever so slightly healthier) alternative to regular ol' french fries.
