Title: MAK sear station...
Post by: rwalters on April 15, 2018, 11:42:08 AM
Saw a guy on the MAK Pellet Grill Fans FB page this morning. He has the Camp Chef sear station sitting on the right shelf of his 2 Star. Sweeeeet setup if ya ask me!

I asked about the setup, here’s what he said:

It was very simple. 4 3/4" X 6" aluminum square tubing and 4 rubber feet from home depot. Drilled 2 holes per leg on each corner and secured with stainless steel screws. That's pretty much it. It sits perfectly on the cold smoke box.

Here’s a couple of screen shots of the setup:

It is nice, but after you go MAK, you can't go back :)

Here’s a couple of more pics:

If I were to put a setup like this in place, I’d use my 24x24” stainless table from Costco and place the 20lb propane tank on the bottom shelf.

This is my current setup, but instead of the CC sear station I have a 17” Blackstone griddle. It’s a pretty clean setup. Thinking I may like the sear station better. Hmmmm...

100% agree, but it sure would make my reverse sear cooks a whole lot faster/easier.

Is that Costco table current? I think I would like that for my 17 inch Blackstone

Costco has it in stock for $89.99. Great ratings! May just have to buy it for my 22.

Nope, not large enough for the 22.

Are you positive? Could have sworn I spec’d it out at one time and determined that I could “squeeze” a 22” BS on it. Who knows, maybe I am having an early senior moment ;)

If you switch it over to a 20 lb propane tank, the only place that I could find the correct hose/adapter was at the home shopping network website.

I bought the hose that everybody on FB recommended. Haven't hooked it up yet. Actually my 17 is still in the box

I had been thinking of doing this with my 1 star before I ever got it, but as of right now my blackstone is working well. Still, am gonna pick up one of those sear stations at some point though.

If you have any local propane wholesalers around check with them. I needed a needle valve to control the gas flow on a propane smoker I had been using. Went to Suburban Propane and they put together a needle valve with all the right fittings in short order. My guess if it's an adaptor they will carry them all. Just a thought you may want to consider over HSN.
