Don't feel bad Pappy me neither :-\
The best steak house I have ever been to is my home ;)

WOW!! I have actually eaten at two of them. Cattleman's in OK City and Dickie Brennan's in NO. To me, Cattleman's was better than Brennan's. I have actually eaten there twice. In 2009 my hunting buddy and I stopped for lunch on our way top NM. Last December Tee and I stopped there for lunch on our way to NM. I bought him a birthday lunch that day. Really good food, just too much in my book.

The best steaks are still at home, however.

I've been to two as well - Gibson's in Chicago and Murrays in MPLS. In my mind they both deserve to be on any top list (including my backyard!)

Gotta agree with Art on this one -- Cattlemen's in OKC is my favorite. It is also "home" for me so that makes it even better. I was a business "road warrior" for many years and in my travels also got to try the top steak places in a lot of cities. Peter Luger in New York is as good as Cattlemen's in OKC but costs about six times as much. The Chicago Chop House is a great one and the steaks at Harry Carray's are no slouch, either. Try Don Shula's if you're ever in Miami. There's a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in most major cities and I've never been disappointed at one. Finally, like Art, I'll humbly admit that if left to my own devices I can serve up a pretty hearty chunk of steer in my own backyard ;D

I was at Bern's in Tampa years and years ago.
I do my own dry age and wet age steaks and cook them on the grill and see no need to go out and spend 5+ times what it costs me to do at home. We have a Shula's, Cris' and few other high end steak houses, but haven't been to them.
There is a 3-chain (so far) in Knoxville, Huntsville and Ft. Myers that I go to on a regular basis, but opt for their other offerings instead of the steak ( I did try a steak once or twice for lunch and it was 'ok'). It's called Connors Steak and Seafood. Service and food are top shelf.

I've had the good fortune to go to four of those (Luger's, Brennan's, Cattlemen's and Killen's) and I'm lucky enough to have Killen's Steakhouse less than 30 minutes away. A neat piece of trivia: Ronnie Killen is opening a KILLER BBQ joint down in Pearland (just outside Houston) to go along with his amazing steakhouse.

Smoke Sizzler is on the Elite Steakhouse List. Do they still offer self valet parking? 8)
