I am running a 5K on Saturday with my bosses boss on Saturday down at Dodger Stadium and so I needed to get a good pair of running shoes.

So I went to get some new running shoes today. What I have found that with running shoes they do not cater to the flat footed people like me. Most have a high arch inside the shoe. I understand that most people need this support but with people who have flat feet like mine they are just uncomfortable. My foot hurt after trying on a pair of high end Nike running shoes and taking just a few steps.

Well Sketcher's just came out with new running shoes in January. After trying them on I was sold. Very lightweight, breathable and thank God no high arch! These shoes are so light it literally felt like I was barefoot!

These are the ones I bought...

So those of you that might be getting into running and are looking for running shoes you might just want to give the Sketcher's brand a look ;)

I am what's called a Normal Pronation runner:

I have what’s called a normal arch:

The shoes I’ve been using for years are the Asics gel cumulus. Love them, and have tired other brands and go back to the Asics’.

Point is, when you find a pair you like and when you’re not thinking about the shoes while running, stay with them. Glad you found a good pair. Let me know how they do after you put some real millage on them. And good luck with the 5K. Is this your first organized run?

Gonna put 4 miles on them this morning and see how they do. They feel real good so hopefully I get good results over a run. Probably will have a better idea how they make my feet feel after 20 miles.

And this is my first organized run. I have been to many charity walk events like Race for the Cure but this will be my first run. A 5K should be a little challenge for me although I do no anticipate too much trouble since I run 4 miles a day during the week.

So I put 4 miles on the new shoes and they feel really good. They are ultra light and yet offer good support. They almost feel like they are not even there.

These shoes force your foot for mid impact and are shaped so the heel does not touch the ground when standing. If you are a heel runner I would imagine they might cause some issues.

Once I get more miles under them I will have a better idea how they work for me but so far I am really impressed with them.

Exactly what I am talking about, once you find them you keep them. In the Marines I used the Nike Pegasus from time to time and I also tired the Nimbus but my favorite shoe is the cumulus. I had a brand that I tried and it would cause my feet to fall asleep after about three miles. Weirdest thing ever, I thought I had other issues but once I went back to the cumulus it was good to go.
