what sous vide machine is everyone using?
« Reply #-1 on: December 31, 2014, 03:10:55 PM »
just thought I would ask because a lot of us want to get a sous vide machine and it would be good to see what everyone else is using.  I use to only have a few grills and now this forum has got me buying all kinds of stuff now.   ;)  loving every minute of it.   8)

I'm going to re-purpose my PID from my Bradley and use it to control a six quart crock pot. Once I complete the hostile takeover of the crock pot and the counter space thereof, of course.

The WHY I chose the Dork Foods DSV is it's versatility. I can run a small, medium or large crock pot. I can even plug a 26 quart turkey roaster into it, and have PLEANTY of space for anything large (  can you say RIBS...Sparky? ;D )

And at about $100....and an accuracy of 2/10ths of 1 degree Farenheit...nothing comes close IMHO to giving you the value of the DSV. YOU choose how large a container needed.

I guess I am odd ball one. I am a red Sous Vide Supreme Demi and I love it! I also had the Dorkfood
controller and really like it too.  I got an awesome deal on this refurbished Demi so I sold my
Dorkfood controller to another member of this board.  I don't think you can go wrong with any of these

I have 2 Anova's and they can be attached to any size stock pot or tub to cook as big or small of a meal you wish, including ribs.  Heck you can probably hang them on your bathtub and turn it into a hot tub for you and..... ;)

Yeah...and no. It is just one more toy tool that helps us achieve the desired effect. Which is always to make whatever it is...better.I will often cold smoke - and finish on the grill - but Sous Vide for the middle part of the cook. I have not found any other method to yield results as good as tho yet.

nope.  that's the best part about this forum.  we all have different interest.  Look at all the different type of smokers we have here.  I like the options that sous vide offers.  I think this sous vide w/ really make my wife happy.  and I still get to sear stuff w/ cast iron on my grill.  so I'm still lighting coal.   8)
