One of those rare events where I will never forget where I was and who I was with.

Several Minnesota players, and of course our own Herb Brooks. This game still means a lot in the hockey capital of the U.S.

Absolutely correct on all counts.
International rules allow a team to suit up 20 players. About a dozen of them were from Minnesota. I saw many of them play their high school hockey.
But the game winner was scored by team captain Mike Eruzione (the "ahtist"), from Boston. I don't have to close my eyes to "see" that shot.
Eruzione's father was a bartender. Patrons took up a collection so he could travel to see his son play. I don't think Mike's mother was there.
