Short story: Betty lived next door to my parents since 1964. She was like a second Mom to me. Betty was needing help at home and my friend across the street had her sister in nursing school at the time. So I went over there and asked her (Wendy) if she would help Betty at home (extra money, that sort of thing). Wendy ended up moving in at Betty's to take care of her. Wendy also helped my Mom in her last couple of weeks. Mama died 9-3-14 and Betty passed away one week later 9-10-14..they were both in Hospice care on the same floor, three rooms apart. It was a tough one. Of course, y'all know I fell in love with Wendy..I used to clean Bettys house once a week and that beautiful brunette was there.....it was only natural
Betty and her late husband Al had a cabin built for there retirement in Big Bear. She loved the mountains. Al passed away in 1-1999. She never returned to the mountains. She was very happy when Wendy and I told her we were moving to the San Bernardino Mountains. We were going to be weekenders so Wendy and I could stay with her during the week.......however she passed away earlier than we expected and we left all the death and unhappiness for the mountains.
It blew me away that Wendy's first day at work at her dream job fell on the one year anniversary of Betty's passing........makes you wonder if there was a little help from above................... Betty was the Mother that Wendy always wanted and they spent a year and half together before Betty left us.....
I don't think I have ever been more proud of someone ever in my life..this is one special lady and she is going to be one heck of a nurse
My eyes got a tad bit watery when I took this picture this morning...she has worked so hard and waited so long for this moment
Here is Wendy walking into the Hospital at Lake Arrowhead this morning for the first day of her Dream Job on the one year anniversary of Betty's passing:
