Well we finally got settled into the new cabin. Had some casualties however. My Good One smoker could not be put out on our rear decks. Up a bit too high and the yard is sloped and the Good One is top heavy. Had to lug it down a treacherous brick stairway to a drop off to go around the sloped yard from one end to the other to the deck entrance all the way on the other side of the yard. We tried but it came down to the fact that someone or the smoker was going to get hurt. The owner of our other house bought it off me so the moving guys brought it back to the old house. We were able to get the PK and the Smokin It and the Camp Chef pellet grill on the decks. Not fun but nobody or the grills got hurt.
Wendy wants to entertain more here. So I have been on the prowl for a larger charcoal grill. The PK just can't handle a crowd. I wanted the Assasin but the freight would be almost as much as the grill. I picked up a Chargriller Outlaw with the side fire-box..partially assembled on CL. I figure I can carry the pcs through the cabin to the decks before assembling. Missing all the hardware. I was able to get the hardware pack from Chargriller. This will give us a good size charcoal grill for when the bubbas come over. If I am feeling rowdy and bored, I might see what fire management skills I have left and will try to smoke something up old school. The barrel portion is large enough to have charcoal on one side and meat on the other without even using the side fire-box. After all these rains let up I will get it all assembled and will start posting cooks. My little brother has cooked on these types of grills for years. He doesn't cover em and hardly cleans out the ashes (it is hard to imagine he is related to me) and he gets 4-5 years out of them. I figure with little TLC and a cover I might get 10. Kind of excited to use this type of grill again. My old Char-Broil Silver smoker was very comparable. Once I figured that grill out, it put out some tasty chow at a low price tag. We shall see what happens once I get her all fired up.............to be continued............
