My name is Rob...born and raised in RI moved to Fall River, MA with my then gf, now wife for a bit and we relocated to Ft, Worth TX a little over 2 years ago. All my life in RI never owned a smoker or really knew what a smoker was or for that matter truly knew what great Q was! In NE they tend to over sauce the BBQ and don't really stick to just dry rub, not putting it down and not everyone does it this way...just an observation on my behalf I can speak of since I was raised there and experienced the Q here in Texas. Well since moving here my neighbor introduced me to and got me hooked on smoking meats. We have a Char-Broil Infrared True Grille that we use for quick cooks.
My first smoker MasterForge propane unit, second one was a Kamadao Joe Big Joe, third WSM 18.5( I got it at a steal in Nov from Wall-Mart, right next to the Christmas display). If I was to get another unit I'm looking at a pit barrel cooker/smoker unit...........but not in the near future, wife feels that I have plenty, as it's just the two of us. I do have the various gadgets (DigiQ X2, Thermopen(s),Maverick ET-732. I love the hobby of cooking great Q and look forward to learning from everyone and share what I have learned along the way on my 2+ short years of my latest hobby.
We all have different ways and methods of cooking, but all share the love of great Q!
