The Sand fire is now moving towards Acton (high desert cowboy country) and they are starting evacuations. For those of you not familiar with So-Cal. The Sand fire is burning out of control. 22,000 acres in just two days. Lots of fuel. No humidity. 100 degree temps. The perfect storm
It is in the northern part of So-Cal north east of the San Fernando Valley in the Antelope Valley. Desert type terrain with tons of brush. Dry brush.............Major housing boom there in the 90's. Tons of master planned neighborhoods......more fuel....18 homes lost so far and over 1500 residences evacuated with much more to come
We can see and smell the smoke up here in the San Bernardino mountains.....and we are 80 miles to the east..
How are you Mike. I know you are in Canyon Country. You OK?
