They are useful!
Hey for years I smoked without any thermometer.
With a new cooker they're great!
What I find most useful is I can put on the cooker, work at something else & get notified when I need to attend the cook

PS. saw this on their web site "COMING 2017 - Smoke Gateway (Wi-Fi) & Smartphone App" and that would be worth the money.

That is the part I am super excited about. Being able to get the temp readings anywhere I have an internet connection is fantastic. I hope they come out with an Apple Watch app as well!  I can be anywhere in my neighborhood having beers with the guys and not have a care in the world!

Right now I use Rock's Stoker for monitor and controlling temps through the internet but for monitoring this would be much less costly.
Waiting for the review.
