Will we be replaced by the Indoor grill? Will charcoal, wood & propane be things of a past lifestyle? Some think there is a new future in grilling?  I say no   but what say you??

Did you look at the prices of those Silken grills?  They are made for yacht owners.  Until you can buy this stuff at Walmart prices, I don't think the Weber kettle has much to worry about.   And on the other hand, the flavor will not be the same.  Unless some government knob head outlaws fire, I don't think smoking and grilling over open flames or in more traditional pits will be going anywhere.

I don't think so.  There is still something primal about cooking outdoors that the best indoor gadget just can't satisfy.

Besides, if I do want or need, to cook a steak indoors, then I have my cast iron grill/grate that gets blistering hot.

Any good grilling will never be "smoke free" :D

Let me have a minute with about 30 bacon wrapped jalapeƱos on that thing and we shall see if it is truly smokeless lol

I agree with you muebe.

Even when you use propane it creates some smoke. An electric element alone will not replace open flame cooking.
At least not for me.
I use an electric smoker, but obviously that is not the same as using an "indoor grill".
If it is raining or extremely cold I will pull out the "Big George", but my preference is always  to cook outside.

As long as God keeps giving us blue skies and trees for fuel it will never happen.

Being outside , using wood or charcoal and even sometimes propane is most of the point.  Its a basis of where the flavor comes from and the element of sharing time together Outdoors.
Evan if the weather is not so good I will be grilling outdoors. I admit the last couple years I have found the cold wind harder to deal with but I remedying  that this year.
I guess for those stuck living in apartments maybe this is needed.. But even then I would have it out on the patio if I had one!...

And Mike, Be sure to video those poppers!
