A recipe by Daniel Gritzer at Serious Eats was my rough guide for this adaptation. My grandmother used to make a version of this when my dad and I would return from mushroom hunting.
A pic of the ingredients and several steps along the way. It was wonderful! And to top it off, we had at the finish of this meal, homemade limoncello topped with a bit of cream. Heavenly!
