Got me a new smoker. Since we thought we are moving to Alabama my wife told me I could only take 4 smokers. I had 11. So.... I got it down to 3 smokers. I didn't have 4. Only 3. Now, if you have been married a long time you kinda walk on egg shells sometimes. I don't know about you ppl but I fear my wife. She can make life not good for old Sparky. So I bought this one. Hot and fast baby!
One temp probe on bottom rack placement and one probe one top rack setting. Go back and look at the pictures. Must be a over a foot height difference between the two rack setting. This pic was taken after 1 1/2 hours into 1st burn.
Got myself a Hunsaker Drum smoker. I did a lot of research for over six months. I finally called Hunsaker smokers phone number and Mark Hunsaker answered the phone himself. We talked about 1/2 hour and I ordered one right after I got off the phone with him. Super nice guy. I didn't like when food drippings would hit the coals when I had a drum before. The Hunsaker vortex basket takes care of that. Easy to move around. Perfect temp control. I got to go to Costco. Thanks Smoke for talking to me some about drum smokers. Thanks Tommy for keeping my secret. Thanks Tim for letting me hang out here. You know Art, when I did order this I did think about that conversation all of us had in Reno. That the walking on eggshell part.

I don't know anything about drum smokers, but it looks like that one should do the job right.
Sure does give you an even cooking temp, & the temp gauge seems to be pretty accurate.
I do know something about wives, (I've had four ) & I think you have a pretty good perspective on the situation.
I obviously had some issues concerning the first three, but I have been with V for 33 years now & still counting.

Mike Hunsaker is a great guy. He solved a bunch of issues of using a UDS. Adjusting the air used to be a pain. The vortex charcoal basket is a great idea. I hear people are ordering those for their WSM smokers and for other 55 gallon drum smokers.........
Congrats Spark and lets see that bad boy get all fired up with some ribs in them

Nice smoker, Sparky! What was is about the Hunsaker vs the other "nice" barrels on the market that won you over? Just curious.
