The dates for the third annual Fall Gathering have been set---Sep 23-Sep 29. Once again it will be held at the Central Christian Church Recreation Area on Clarks Hill Lake (ake Lake Thurmond) which is about 20 miles up the Savannah River from Augusta, GA. Even though we have the facility from monday thru sunday that is not to say the Gathering goes on the entire time. Here is how it works: I pick up the keys to the campground on monday and go up on tuesday and stay until the following monday. On tuesday I begin getting the area ready as needed. Some folks start showing up on wednesday, some on thursday, some on friday, some on saturday, on even some on sunday. Come for the amount of time you are able even if it is just for a few hours. The church only charges a donation fee of $500 and I think we already have that covered from people like Tim Tucker, so it won't cost you anything to stay. There is a bunk house with toliet and showers which house about 50 males on one side and the same amount of ladies on the other. There are some four cabins which hold 8 each with a bath house a short walk away. You can bring your own cooker if you can. There will be some there for those of us who live close enough to drive...or like Tim who loads up a truck and a trailer. There is a Publix, Super Walmart, and Academy Sports as well as some convience stores within 15 miles or so if you want to buy some food or other things. If you want an idea of how this thing goes go to youtube and search for SOTG Fall Gathering 2011 and that shows the facilities. The video was done by Don Beamer, aka IR2Dum. You can also bring a tent, travel trailer, or motor home as there are hook ups available. The purpose of the Gathering is to share our love of cooking, comraderie, and fellowship. Those who have been before please don't hesitate to comment. I'll be putting our detailed info as we get closer to the event. Now is the time to start planning your work schedule so you can be there. Thanks, Dee
