First use of new rotisserie on charcoal grill
« Reply #-1 on: June 23, 2013, 11:37:49 PM »
Local shop welded up a grill for me last summer.. They added a rotisserie and vertical charcoal firebox this year.  Friday a group showed up and we put a 4 month old lamb on to try it out.
Hope the photos load properly.

Lamb cooked for 2-2 1/2 hours and was crusty with medium to median well interior.  Seasoned with rosemary, garlic, lemon, salt and olive oil.
Not much leftover.

Fantastic. The lamb looks delicious and the grill is very interesting. Your design?

I drew up a basic grill for trailer and Donn (welder) made it.  There is a grill that fits when rotisserie is not needed.  Have done butterfly 60lb hog on that.
This year he added the rottiss. And removable vertical firebox. Using bigger motor than needed.  Looking for variable controller then he can have his motor back.

What a unique idea putting the vertical box inside like that.  "Outside-the-box" wins again.

B T W, the lamb looks mighty good, too

Yes it heats the item on rotisserie from front or rear only. Coal basket is movable. RPM variable from 1 to 4 RPM. Should have cleaned up trailer before photo. Not everything on front is needed to use grill. Next items on to do list are , Italian style porchetta. Full loin wrapped in skin on pork belly, and a boned rolled half lamb that a lady near hinckley mn makes up.

I'm looking forward to hearing about these - especially the boned rolled half lamb!

Thanks!
