Capt Jack's first day at Army boot camp
« Reply #-1 on: August 16, 2013, 10:05:02 AM »
As y'all know Capt Jack proudly served honorably in the Army.  However, y'all don't know about what happened to him the first day he was at Ft Polk, LA in the area known as Tiger Land which was the training area for the Infantry.  I'm here to tell y'all what happened.

As is normal, the drill sergeant had his new recruits lined up in formation and was politely telling them what his standards were and how he doubted if their parents were married and he would have his hands full in overcoming how they had all been babied by their mothers and what all he had to do to get them ready for combat and wondered why the Army had seen fit to send the worst America had to offer to be in his platoon.

After that warm welcome he politely informed them, "All right! All you dummies get your a$$es into the barracks!"

As the rest of the platoon ran into the barracks only Capt Jack was standing there, remaining at attention.

The drill sergeant walked up to him until he had the brim of his drill sergeant hat right up against Capt Jack's forehead staring him dead in the eye.  The drill sergeant then raised just one eye brow and he glared at Capt Jack.

Capt Jack just smiled and said in his best Texas drawl, "Shore was a lot of them dummies weren't it drill sergeant?"

My cousin, whose last name is also Polk, went to his AIT at Fort Polk. When they got off the bus and were lined up the drill Sargent was going down the line giving them hell when he spotted his name on his uniform. He stopped and proceeded to yell at him saying did he think he would be getting special attention since he was named Polk, then that Ft Polk was hell on earth and he was going to make his life a special hell, and he did.
