I've had a number of folks contact me and ask about a schedule, events, or what they can bring to the Gathering.
The really ain't no organization to this thing. When we started it the purpose was just for folks who love outdoor cooking to get together, eat, and enjoy one another's company. And so far that seems to have worked.
Now, we have evolved to a few things that folks wanted. One was a supper on Saturday night. We just throw on the table whatever y'all have that you want to eat. Some folks have a special dish they like to share and they fix it.
There is no organization to the food that is cooked. Y'all just bring whatever you want and there will be a grill, smoker, or SRG to cook it on. If you want to buy something after you get here we have Publix, Sam's, Costco, and any other place you want to buy from within about 20 miles or so. If you want to check out Academy Sports you can do that. Next year Cabela's and Bass Pro should be up and running.
One thing I have not mentioned too much is since this is a church property there can be no alcoholic beverages there.
Art is going to demonstrate some knife sharpening techniques and equipment. If there is any other skill or unskill y'all want to show that can be worked in with no problem.
On Saturday night we will have a bon fire where non-goal directed conversations can be conducted. Some folks call them BS Sessions.
On Sunday morning we will have a short service around 10 am down by the water.
The main thing is for everyone to get together in a low keyed, non-stressed environment with a group of like nuts who have escaped from various asylums and enjoy one another.
Let me know if y'all need or want anything. I'll be checking out of the net next Monday night because I'll move to the site Tuesday morning and there ain't no internet up there.
