Lasagna
« Reply #-1 on: December 23, 2013, 01:56:52 PM »
I volunteered to make lasagna for the Christmas Day meal for my extended family (17 people) We sorta draw the main course from a hat, so you can end up making almost anything.

I had never made lasagna before.....and god willing I will never make again. I swear it was more work then my entire 5 course Thanksgiving meal.

So it is in a giant disposable aluminum pan in my garage fridge. Think the pan weighed 15 pounds.

Now to do all the dishes I dirtied......and take a nap!

I agree Pappy as with most Italian foods a lot of prep! When we get hungry for lasagna I buy Stouffer's frozen, pretty good. Don

Yup, Stouffers at my place as well.............the lunch truck at work would have lasagna every Friday.....we would wait in line for it. One day I ran out late and it was all sold out. The driver must have noticed the tear in my eye and he walked over and whispered in my ear "I buy Stouffers in the family size box, don't tell anyone....how about some super nachos?"  :)

That's our "Traditional" Christmas Eve dinner as well.  (baking while we go to Midnight Mass at 4 in the afternoon  ;))

My Le Creuset lasagna pan weights 15 pounds by itself, so we're looking at a 27+ pound load on the oven racks!!

That reminds me of a call my priest told me many, many years ago...

"What time is midnight Mass?"

I thought you were looking for recipes.  I was going to tell you to make pierogi lasagna and claim that they didn't tell you what type you needed to make.

Yep, Stouffers here too! But my wife does make some awesome spinach lasagne. I need to post the recipe.

Our Christmas Day dinner is usually a lasagna that is made before, so there is less to do when the kids and grand kids come over later in the day. My wife who is usually ultra health conscious, makes a meat lovers lasagna. It has weighed 18 lbs the last two times she has made it!

My wife makes a really good lasagna. It sure looks like a lot if work!

Lasagna is great for leftovers too. It keeps well and reheats easily ;)
