Democracy

The biggest argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter.  Dee
This post may contain misspellings, grammatical errors, disorganized sentence structure, misquotes, and lack a coherent theme.  These elements are natural to the process of writing, and will only add to the beauty of the post.

Scary how we have become a society polarized by populism as the media portrays the candidates and twists the facts. No one wants to take the time to research, and think for themselves.

We have become lazy. And - unfortunately - deserving of the quality ( or lack) of leadership because of the mental malaise of the public.

I was watching Judge Judy the other day, and a litigant was a man with no education, no job, no wife, but with 29 kids, most with different mothers.  Almost on a daily basis I see litigants on the program that are supported by the government through welfare or disability, mostly undeservingly so.  In contrast, most of my colleagues who are productive members of society have at most a few kids (of course there are exceptions).  However, the general observation is that the people that are the least productive have the greatest number of kids, which begs the question - how long can the country support all the disability and welfare abusers?

The disturbing fact is that the ignorant voter counts just as much as the informed one.  It is a shame that one does not have to take a test to prove they're not an idiot before they are offered the opportunity to vote

One thing that history teaches us: No matter the type of govt. - NONE have ever ben successful at legislating, or enforcing "morals and ethics" on their populations. Those are traits learned at home, then reinforced by society as a whole.

Or…not, as we can clearly see examples on television. Enter - Maury Povich, whose only 2 topics are:

1. Who da baby-daddy be? Or otherwise stated: Does anyone keep their knees together anymore? Or is there a male or female among the youngest generation that has been taught ANY self-responsibility?

2. Was this person born as a man or a woman? ( Drag queen competition onT.V. <shiver…> ) "Thats all I have to say about that"……Forrest Gump - Great American Philosopher and role model ;).

I weep for the future that my grandkids face…….

Our society has simply lost it's morality. Stealing, lying, cheating have all become acceptable ways of life.

Having multiple children with different men is no longer really frowned upon and has been accepted as the norm. Then these children are growing up without a father figure in the home. And many times are neglected by their mothers and abused. Growing up around drugs and violence. Shown no love or compassion. These generation of kids are now having kids themselves. Kids now having kids and passing on that inability to love or show compassion for others to their children.

And there is a government support system providing the ability for this to continue by giving money to people who continue to abuse the system IMHO. In return they get voters and more power.

People who demand random drug testing for welfare recipients are criticized as being bigoted and racists. Well I get random drug tested at my work to keep my job. So in a way we are all paying welfare recipients to watch their own children so demanding that they take a drug test is not out of the question IMHO.

Meanwhile you have a government going after legal gun owners for a few school tragedies meanwhile you have gang members shooting & killing each other and innocent people in the process on the streets of this country every single day! Don't get me wrong those school tragedies are horrible but many times these incidences are cherry picked by national media to provide fuel for the anti gun agenda IMHO. Otherwise all the other killings stay to local media.

Show me one legal gun owner who is a active gang member? Even if you ban guns they will still get them. Drugs are illegal and we have more drugs in this country then if they were all legalized.

I could go on and on but should stop. It is Sunday and I am spending time with my son this morning and enjoying my day. I assure you that my two children get plenty of love from me and my wife. My hope is that someday people like me will create enough people who can somehow turn this country back around.

muebe - you do us old guys proud. Now, just multiply your ideas on ethics and morals amongst the population.  That is what we need!
