Chops and Cob on the Weber Jumbo Joe
« Reply #-1 on: March 31, 2014, 09:30:27 PM »
I had to go to Wally World this morning to pick up some RO Lump
charcoal. Our Wally World now has an enormous selection of Weber
grills.  I have wanted a Jumbo Joe for a while now so I bought it.

Tonight’s dinner is pork chops and corn on the cob.  The chops were actually for dinner last Tuesday
night and I had put them in the marinade last Monday night. But things came up and my wife had to
go to Florida so I vacuum packed them in the marinade and froze them until this morning. Both the
chops and the corn were seasoned with Weber’s Kickin Chicken.

I heated up the Jumbo Joe to 400 degrees and put the chops on direct and corn on indirect.

Chops and Corn are done!

Here’s your plate!

My wife wanted a photo of me with my “toys”.  8)

Good break in for the JJ! Chops and corn were real delicious!

WTG Mike..I love cooking on charcoal. The corn looks fab and the chops are just right. What size is that cooker? I have a lil Smokey Joe and find that it's too small for me, I guess I cook bigger..go figure. We gotta do corn at the gathering. I have a  connection and may be able to do that. We grow excellent corn here in Ohio.   .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Thanks all! The Jumbo Joe is 18.5 inch diameter, 240 SQ IN cooking. The Smokey Joe is 14.5 and 147 SQ IN cooking.
The extra spaces makes a huge difference. I could have just bought the 18.5 inch One Touch Silver, but I wanted
something portable to take on the road.

Looks great!

I like the slight charring on the corn. That caramelization brings out the natural sugars ;)

Correct me if I am wrong but it looks like the Jumbo Joe is a regular Weber with short legs.
Sounds like a great mobile grill.
