I had leftover meatloaf and some Ore Ida frozen hash browns I needed to use. I told her I was putting Kimchi on my sandwich. She just wanted the meatloaf, hash browns and would eat leftover fried cabbage.
Now that should be simple, brown the hash browns and just heat up the rest and done. I put the hash browns in a skillet with a little butter and olive oil and covered on med. high. I had a skillet out to heat up the meatloaf.
I took the lid off the potatoes and let them go until they should have been brown, they were not very brown. I got most turned and cranked up the heat a notch. They were sure taking a long time. When they were brown I thought I will use a plate and invert them to get all turned nicely, I have done it before.
Well this time something slipped and I ended up with about 1/3 of them on the glass top. Those on the burner were browning way too fast! I grabbed a plastic spatula and got what I could off the burner and the rest back in the skillet. I scraped the burning potatoes off the burner with a razor blade scraper and got the skillet back on the burner to try and recover from this fiasco!
I didn’t have to look over my shoulder like you usually do after a silly stunt; I knew no one was watching.
My wife was in the living room and knew there was something wrong from the loud explicit words emitting from my mouth and she should just stay put until I called her for supper. When she came out only then did she ask what happened. I said well you got a messy stove to clean up! Maybe I should have posted this under humor.
I ended up getting the hash browns pretty well browned; we had a good meal and the Kimchi was great on the sandwich! I had it on a toasted Kaiser bun and some of my beer mustard.
