I've had the 22.5 WSM (Fat Boy) for 7-8 years now and have been very happy with it.
In fact, so much so that when my son-in-law and I started competing, I convinced him we needed another one, even though he likes ceramics (Vision).
Well, at our last event I was having trouble keeping temp up on the one I was using for our rib entry (the brisket was on Fat Boy). I was wondering if it was due, in part, to the smaller amount of fuel I was using since the ribs are such a short cook.
So, my questions is this: Would there be any benefit, when using small loads of fuel, to pick up charcoal ring for an 18.5 with the intent of concentrating the smaller load of fuel so that it's not a spread out?
Thanks for any and all input.
